Loved everything! The beer, the pretzel appetizer, the Reuben were all fantastic! My wife's meal was amazing also! Dining area was very quaint and our server, Tess, was great. She offered excellent suggestions. We'll definitely go back to try more items on the menu. Highly recommend if you like German food and beer!

We stopped by for dinner after a visit to Hueston Woods State Park. This place is downstairs (cellar) from the street and they have plenty of beer steins thus the name "stein keller". The atmosphere is all German with lots of seating nooks. The staff were friendly and attentive. We had a bratwurst special and a Reuben sandwich. The portions were generous and cooked well. Great place to steal away from it all and enter Germany for a little while!

I have dined at Steinkeller since my first year at Miami University in 2010 and it's always worth the trip down the stairs. German inspired cuisine with plenty of American flair and an impressive drink list. The decor is fun (wenn du Deutsch kann, der Maler konnte nicht ) and the staff is amazing! I always get moist and delicious schnitzel. I miss their bacon vinaigrette dressing days but the new brunch weekends get a big thumbs up! Pork schnitzel on home fries with sausage gravy and a fried egg, omg so good. I hope Gina is there when I next visit, she has an amazing energy and I knew she was going to serve me only tasty food.

The food is amazing, the Spaetzle is one of the tastiest I've tried, the Wurst platter, King Ludwig and the Biergaten Pretzel were so good!! Portions are really generous!, and that sweet mustard that comes with the cheese curds is delicious. Their German beer selection is great.

What a gem of a place, especially if you like beer or German food. I personally grew up around a lot of German culture, and learned the language at a young age, and this little basement feels like home in an odd way. If you're not a drinker, the food is more than enough reason to come here. Their schnitzels are legitimately pretty authentic, and the pretzels are perfect. I'm not kidding when I say that if you're not familiar with German food and nothing catches your eye, their burgers are great. Go visit for a burger and some beer, if nothing else. On the topic of beer, there's legitimately nothing that rivals this place anywhere near us. The owner (who unfortunately passed away, I think, and his wife now runs the place) used to travel overseas to sample drafts, and import his favorites. That practice has made the beer menu worth coming for alone, even if you don't plan on eating. (You have to at least get a pretzel though, right?) If the German beer menu is a little overwhelming, their descriptions of the beer in English is superb, and the wait staff is EXTREMELY patient and normally quite willing to discuss beer recommendations with you. I'm personally very fond of Paulaner Salvator, Andechs Dunkel Weißbier und Kostritzer Schwarzbier. Fantastic place for a date night or celebration. Go try it.

My kids were worried walking down into a scary looking basement area, but the moment we walked in the door their fears washed away. It was inviting, warm, and friendly. Food was great, but very meat-heavy which made it tough for the vegetarians in the group. Service was awesome - I don’t remember his name, but he had long hair and gave us lots of good info about the area and the university.

Stopped for brunch/lunch while visiting our son at Miami. My wife and him had gone there once before and he said he wanted to come back, so that's a pretty good endorsement. Don't let the somewhat steep and scary entrance to this basement establishment scare you off, it's well worth a visit. Everybody enjoyed their brunch (son, wife) or lunch (Grandma, me). Saturday lunch/brunch menu is limited, but food still good and good selection of German beers. I enjoyed my dark beer flight although the relative up charge for the 4 4-ounce pours seemed a little steep. If there's something you're interested in you might do better to ask for a taste and then order a half liter. I thought the Reuben was good and the chickenzilla looked very good. The brunch options were reportedly tasty as well. Will definitely return. Upon return, there Cubano was somewhat disappointing, but the half liter of Celebrator was not.

Who doesn’t love a Germanfest pub? I tried a grapefruit beer on draft and it was incredibly good! And the Bavarian pretzel and cheese were hot and fresh. The atmosphere was cozy and the service was great. They were very knowledgeable about the different beers available on draft and they were quick with the drinks back to the table. This is a great place to meet with old chums from college yesteryear!
